It is the second week for our series revolving around the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:16-25). This week we looked at the biblical view and emphasis on the Joy of the Lord in our faith journey. Pastor Jeni preached that this type of joy is found both now and forever. That is an abounding joy that cannot be taken away.

Notes from Sunday’s Sermon:

  1. The fruit of the Spirit are ALL outcomes of a life lived by the power of the Spirit.

  2. If the fruit isn’t growing, check your source.

  3. Based on the whole story of Scripture, what does it look like for (FRUIT) to flow out of me through the power of the Holy Spirit?

Based on the whole story of Scripture, what does it look like for JOY to flow out of me through the power of the Holy Spirit?

  • Chara - JOY: a state of joy and gladness; delight

  • “Joy” is used 133 times in the New Testament. 50 of those are in Paul’s letters.

  • The JOY of the New Testament refers to is unique to the Christian experience.

  • The JOY of Scripture is rooted in what God has done & continues to do in Christ for us and others.

  • So, what is the source of this joy? The Good News of the Resurrected King Jesus and all that that means now and for eternity.

  • Jesus purchased with his blood our ability to experience enduring joy in this life.
